Video Checkout Interface - Hospitality Management Systems
RDP supports in-room check-out through the LodgeNet,
ONCOMMAND,
and nSTREAMS movie
interfaces. With the Enhanced Movie interface installed, guests view their
folio on the television screen and check out with RDP. If the
Protobase interface (formerly known as SDC) is installed, a credit card payment is automatically
processed. The interface also turns movies on at check-in and off at
check-out, helping to prevent unauthorized access. The following features are included with RDP's Enhanced Movie
Interface:
Call RDP Sales for pricing information.
Express In-Room Checkout
With the Enhanced Movie Interface installed, guests can view folio transactions on their television and check out of the RDP
system. Guests with a valid credit card on file can process their own check-outs through the movie system without
going to the front desk. Once the guest
is checked out through the Enhanced Movie Interface, RDP's availability is immediately updated, and the room is marked "dirty and vacant" for the
housekeeping department.
Multiple Unique Folio Charges
LodgeNet, ONCOMMAND, and nSTREAMS provide a variety of in-room services. For example, guests have the
ability to purchase movies, play video games, and view exercise videos. All three of these services are posted as unique charges to the RDP folio.
In order to track revenues, separate daily, month-to-date, and year-to-date totals are processed for each in-room service.
Automated Movie System
The Enhanced Movie Interface processes check-in and check-out messages to the in-room movie system. When
a guest checks in, an automatic message is relayed to the movie system activating services in the room. When the guest checks out, movies are
automatically deactivated in the room, preventing unauthorized access.
Automatically Generate Credit Card Payments
With the RDP Protobase Interface installed, guest credit card payments are automatically
processed as part of an express in-room check-out. The payment is reflected on the RDP folio and can be easily tracked as originating from the interface.
Properties that do not utilize the Protobase Interface, manually
process express in-room check-out credit card payments from the front desk.
Through built-in tracking mechanisms, reports are printed for front desk clerks
to alert them of in-room check-outs.
Graphical User Interface (GUI);
In addition to adding functionality to the Enhanced Movie Interface, RDP has also created the Enhanced
Movie Interface with a windows "look and feel." The interface takes advantage of standard Windows drop-down menus, radio buttons, and
configuration menus in order to simplify day-to-day use. A sample interface configuration windows is displayed below.

Electronically Send Support Information
Through the Enhanced Movie Interface's Windows interface, property employees
can easily transmit interface logs to RDP Support through electronic mail.
The feature is standard with the Enhanced Movie Interface and can be activated
with just a few mouse clicks!
Upgrades and Requirements
Customers utilizing the current RDP In-Room Movie Interface already have a networked bridge workstation
communicating with the movie system. However, this workstation may also be posting phone calls from the call accounting system or interfacing with the
property's phone switch in order to activate guest telephones and process housekeeping messages.
The workstation running the Enhanced Movie Interface must meet be dedicated
to this function and also meet the basic
workstation hardware requirements plus have a serial port available.
Please note that in order to run the Enhanced Movie Interface, Pervasive.SQL
10 or higher (with all service packs) must be installed on both the fileserver and each RDP workstation.
